Sutton Coldfield pop-up cycle lane

1/2

This page is now closed for feedback. The Sutton Coldfield pop-up cycle lane was removed in November 2020.

We are creating temporary ‘pop-up’ cycle routes in Sutton Coldfield town centre to provide safer space for cycling and to improve connections with existing cycle routes and key destinations.

Measures will include:

  • Contraflow cycle lanes and proposed one-way on Park Lane (between Garrard Gardens and Brassington Avenue) to provide safer walking and cycling connections between town centre and Sutton Park
  • Two-way segregated cycle route on Brassington Avenue connecting the rail station with National Cycle Network Route 534 (Newhall Valley and Sutton Park)
  • Carriageway narrowing on Birmingham Road – to provide safer crossing facilities for pedestrians & transition for cyclists to/from the pop-up cycle lanes on Brassington Avenue
  • Please note that this scheme is being delivered on a temporary trial basis for the next few months, with the potential for these measures to be made more permanent as part of the Birmingham Walking & Cycling Strategy & Infrastructure Plan .
