These proposals will add to congestion in the centre at peak times, introduce new safety concerns and lead to more traffic using side roads. A number of schemes have been introduced already and I have yet to see one carrying any volume of cyclists/walkers. It also fails to take into account that post COVID people will still avoid public transport for health reasons. The solution is to create new routes and invest in infrastructure which does not reduce existing road space for vehicles. Increased use of electric vehicles will lead to improved air quality over time. Trying to force people out of their cars will never work.

This will create traffic issues on an already busy road which supports local retailers as it is an access road for shoppers

Traffic is already a nightmare around Sutton and now it will be made even worse. Not enough people cycle to justify this waste of premium road lanes.

This scheme is great the only reason it would be unsafe is if drivers don’t drive safely and in accordance with the highway code

Why have a cycleway disrupting traffic flow , when on the other side of the road is a very wide footpath hardly used which could be used for foot and cycleway
