Do you have any comments about the temporary changes made last year?

One-way pedestrian flow is pointless: signage unhelpful and incomplete from both ends and no one observes it because it involves crossing the road where there is no crossing point Best measure is wider pavement especially on Home Bargains side. I would support keeping wider pavement all the way. To compensate for loss of street parking the York St and St John’s Road car parks need to be made more prominent with say first 30 minutes free parking. And stop ALL parking on York St yellow lines , including blue badge holders!!

Relay road surface. Relay pavements. Let pedestrian traffic lights activate after max 5 seconds, instead of waiting 30+ seconds. Use planning permission to prevent buildings coming within 3m of roadway (for wide enough pavements). Require black cabs to turn off engines while waiting on rank. Get the Royalty site repaired and back in use!! Cinema / community space / shared use.

It is much more pleasant having more space to walk in the high street, because of the barriers. Please make them permanent by widening the pavements and installing fixed barriers to prevent cars from parking on the pavements.

I live 20 min walking/8 min cycling distance from the high street, but it is a nightmare to cycle along Court Oak Road/Lordswood Road, because of the amount, the speeding and the constant pollution and noise caused by the through traffic. Harborne shouldn’t be just an easy drive-through for motorists from outside Birmingham to get into the city centre. I find this situation particularly appalling since there are schools and nurseries along these roads. If you want people to actively move around their neighbourhood you have to create the infrastructure. I’m actively avoiding walking/cycling along these streets, because of this situation. Please: - Close off high street to anyone except active travel and public transport (taxis and uber are not public transport) or make it a one-way street and have physically separated cycle lanes to go in each direction - Create physically separate (not just paint-on) cycle lanes to connect Quinton to Harborne Highstreet. The amount of constantly on-street/half on pavement parked cars along Lordswood Road-Court Oak Road-Ridgacre Road etc proofs that the space is there. 90% of the houses along these roads have driveways and shouldn’t park their cars on a public road. - Enforce speed limits. The two traffic “indicators” on Court Oak Road, and the one on Tennal Road are constantly signalling speeding. Why aren’t they turned into speed cameras? - Transform as many residential streets as possible into LTNs. Why is it possible that Victoria Road and Tennal Road turn every afternoon into a rat-run for motorists who can’t be bothered to wait their turn along Lordswood Road/Court Oak Road and instead (try to) speed through Victoria Road and Tennal Road to get to the M5? - Create a safe cycle route from Quinton-Harborne Centre to The Hospital and the University, since many students and staff live in Harborne and surroundings. Metchley Lane is currently a terrible road to cycle along especially since the 30 mph speed limit is often ignored. Metchley Lane has the space available, because currently one side is used by motorists to park their cars. Again, if there’s space to park cars permanently (aka road space not being used to move traffic along), then there is space for a physically separate cycle lane. - Easiest fix: remove the wait-time on any pedestrian traffic light. Promoting active travel should mean that you prioritise it. Whenever someone walks up to a traffic light, they should be able to immediately cross it, not wait for 5 min to give way to motorists. I don’t understand why anyone (unless physically unable) would drive any journey that takes less than 30 min to walk.

The one way was largely ignored and was only in place due to a sign placed on the pavement outside home bargains that is a hazard to people with visual impairment. The plastic bollards used to widen the pavement look ugly and make it hard to cross the road. Wider proper pavements I am sure would be more pleasant but I suspect the shops on the high street probably missed cars being able to pull up outside. With so many shops already closing on the high street the commercial impact of any changes should be thought about carefully as a vibrant, varied selection of shops is very important to me.

All parking should be removed from the High St between 7-7pm. Only buses should be allowed. Local car parks should allow free parking for first 90 mins. Too much emphasis on cycling routes / bus lanes . I don’t think we need more . Cycling lanes can be intimidating for pedestrians and elderly.

Free parking for 60/90 mins to help small business No parking on the high street between 7-7 More seating/ pedestrian areas on the high St. better lighting

Fully supportive. Harborne high st is blighted by too narrow pavements and too much traffic and too many moving at speed. For high st to survive they need to be pleasant destinations to go to and linger. This measures are a small start but need to be built on significantly - prioritising pedestrians experiences and making the street far more clear friendly.

I would ideally move through traffic off the high st, with the exception of buses and others who need it. Widen pavements. With little traffic would be no need for cycle lane, but if still traffic, perhaps make one way to make space for cycle lane.
