How do you use the Colmore area?

• I visit the area regularly

Do you have any comments about the temporary changes made last year?

Heading in the right direction. The area is a gem in terms of its architecture and offer in terms of food, drinks and shops etc... It needs to be made as pedestrian friendly as possible. After that cyclists / scooters etc need to be prioritised (while of course ensuring deliveries and the disabled have provision to enter the area by motorised vehicle). Love the changes to enable bars, restaurants, cafes etc to spill on the street. Essential in covid times, but actually so much more pleasant anyway. There is no need for Waterloo St, and the final part of Colmore Row to be a road open to all. Similarly roads like Church St etc... would benefit from pedestrianisation and becoming destinations to mingle, linger, enjoy by themselves

Do you have any ideas for future improvements to the Colmore area?

As above, more pedestrianisation. A link through to the A34 cycle way from the south side, so you can cycle through the city without coming into conflict with pedestrians or cars / busess...

I am a disabled Blue Badge holder, and used to visit regularly for coffee or lunch, but not any more, because parking adjacent to my destination is impossible. I can’t walk, use public transport, still less cycle! So businesses have lost my custom.

Return it to how it was pre Covid

All really inspiring and made the spaces feel welcoming to people who visit not only work in the area.

Make the bus stops more appealing, we should be celebrating those using public transport not making it feel like it’s an eyesore.

I cannot comment on temporary changes as I have not visited for work or leisure since the pandemic. In normal times I visit or mainly go through the area on regular basis to visit places for work but on occasions have meetings or training sessions in the area I also visit the area for a number of leisure reasons.

If I cycle through the area it can be extremely worrying in relation to traffic on the main road and from side entrances. Proper dedicated cycle lanes are needed with priority over side junctions in line with modern cycle infrastructure in Manchester (I also believe as in London). The area needs a complete redesign in relation to providing more facilities for cycling and walking as opposed to cars. The last time I used my car locally in the area was some 15 years ago when it turned out quicker (after trying to drive) to leave it parked and then walk to my next destination about 1 mile away. However the facilities and provision for walking has not materially improved much and provision for cycling is incredibly poor despite some small attempts to improve provision, a big step change is needed.
