It felt much safer to cycle there, would be great if they were kept and the lane extended. I'm sure it will be even more useful and functional during Commonwealth Games in 2022 to allow people to use bikes and scooters to ease the roads from an overflow of cars and buses.

It does help as a cyclist but it isn’t joined up. If I’m cycling from city centre to northfield it’s actually safer not to use the cycle lane as it’s only on one side of the road. You then have to try to cross again as you reach the entrance to Shelly oak station. I fear for my life every single time I cycle to and from the city centre. It’s healthier, cheaper and better for the environment but cyclists need to be protected. Just a mile or two of safety means nothing when you are then left to fend for yourself in six lanes of impatient mass traffic (as at the top of sell oak by the old Sainsbury’s). Please think about it more coherently and actually cycle it to see how it works.

It's OK where its been utilised on pavements or Central reservactions, not good where it has gone into already overloaded Roads
