To have proper cycle lanes, so the cyclist can feel safe, there are a lot of dangerous drivers out there that don't care about you on a bike, your just in there way, I really cannot see this working as your devised route from Fort Dunlop onto Bromford Lane which is extremely busy any time of the day and then turning onto Drews Lane were it states a 20mph zone and most drivers let rip on this 1mile stretch doing speeds upto 50/60mph and as you approach the Washwoodheath Road at the traffic lights, you tend to get a lot of drivers jumping the lights so if your on a bike you have got no chance whats so ever.
When the city was built they should of implemented cycle lanes then and this problem would not be there, the roads today are very dangerous for any cyclist no matter were you are in Birmingham.

Cycle paths totally separate from the road network to reduce the congestion, pollution and economic effects of slowing traffic
Reduction and better enforcement of speed limits. Physical segregation of motorised vehicles, cycles and pedestrians. Better public information on all road users responsibilities.
