It feels unsafe at times as traffic is so close and the separation is not permanent enough. The lane needs to be kept clear of debris.

Sounds a great idea I use to work along this corridor some 15-20 years ago and really struggled to find a usable cycle route from the city centre so any real improvement like this is good news. I have a friend who lives near the airport who does not access the internet but who really appreciates this improvement.

Make it permanent and improve signage at side junctions and alter junction with raised pavement or other to make clear cycle lane has priority. Continuous enforcement of parking infringements and speeding by motor vehicles along main road.
