I regularly use the section between Selly Oak Triangle and the Blue Cycle Path and the segregated cycle path is great and a much needed addition. Cycling along Bristol Road was scary even for me as a confident cyclist, with cars parked along one side and two lanes of traffic uphill. Now I feel much safer and actively choose to cycle. My only criticism is that you have to cross to the other side of the road under Selly Oak railway bridge to follow the path and there is no safe crossing point there.

It is hard to believe that the labour council cannot fill in potholes along this stretch of road but have put in a pointless cycle and bus lane. It serves no purpose whatsoever, it stops at Hole Lane. In rush hour you cannot get out of Bournville Lane onto the A38.

I've ridden this route countless times both before the new lane designation and after. I feel so much safer with the speed limit being lower and the cars all travelling at a relatively constant speed and little to no lane changing causing concertina slow-downs. I feel like drivers are less likely to be desperate to get in front and make risky manoeuvres to be "first" to a junction. I'd like to see more of these kinds of schemes, especially on hills where the uphill can be slow and strenuous on a bike sometimes. I'd like to see 30 zone signposts installed to reinforce that the road is no longer a 40 zone as many seem to think when there's little traffic on the road.
